Fujitsu Unveils FMV Note U UX-L3 as World's Lightest 14-Inch Laptop with Intel Core Ultra 7

Fujitsu has unveiled the FMV Note U UX-L3, claiming the title of world’s lightest 14-inch laptop at 634 grams. The company states the device weighs roughly 1.40 pounds, positioning it below even the Surface Pro 12 tablet, which tips the scales at 686 grams without a keyboard.

Carbon Fiber Build and Military Durability

The FMV Note U UX-L3 features a chassis constructed from carbon fiber, a material chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio. Fujitsu has subjected the laptop to MIL-STD-810H testing, a standard covering drops, vibration, shock, dust, humidity, and temperature extremes. The company states the lid is designed to survive 200 kgf (441 lbf) of pressure applied on top of the closed unit.

Intel Core Ultra 7 355 and AI Compute

Under the hood, the laptop is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 355 CPU. The processor features 8 cores and 8 threads, and includes an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of up to 49 TOPS of AI compute power. This hardware is intended to accelerate AI services such as Microsoft Copilot in Windows. The system comes with 16 GB of fixed LPDDR5X-7467 RAM and 512 GB of PCIe SSD storage, both soldered to the motherboard.

Display, Ports, and Battery Life

The device sports a 14-inch matte LCD with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200. Port selection includes two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×2 ports supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery, a full-sized HDMI port, and an Ethernet port. Wireless connectivity comprises Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Fujitsu rates the 31 Wh battery for 7.5 hours of video playback using the JEITA 3.0 testing standard. A revised compact charger, weighing 148 grams, is included in the box.

Release and Pricing

Fujitsu has set a release date of November 13, 2026, for the Japanese market. The company has not disclosed a final price, though estimates place the FMV Note U UX-L3 at around 260,000 yen, approximately $1,700. Availability outside Japan is not currently listed. The laptop will ship with Windows 11 and include AI-powered features such as Noise Cancellation and Umore skin-correction software.

Security, Audio, and Color Options

The FMV Note U UX-L3 provides biometric login through a Windows Hello fingerprint sensor and a Full HD webcam. For audio, the laptop includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The listed model is offered in a single color option named Pict Black, with no additional colors or configurations announced by Fujitsu for this specific model.

Connectivity is rounded out by a microSD card slot alongside the previously detailed USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, and Ethernet ports. Wireless specifications confirm Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support.

AI Features and Windows 11 Integration

The FMV Note U UX-L3 includes AI-powered software designed to enhance user interaction and security. Fujitsu has integrated Noise Cancellation technology that can be trained to recognize the user’s voice, automatically filtering out other speakers and background noises during online video calls. Additionally, the laptop features Umore, an AI beautifying application that tracks users in 3D to apply skin correction and virtual makeup. Biometric login is supported through a Windows Hello fingerprint sensor and a Full HD webcam. The device ships with Windows 11 and leverages the Intel Core Ultra 7 355’s integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of up to 49 TOPS of AI compute power to accelerate AI services such as Microsoft Copilot in Windows.
