BERLIN, September 18 — GMKtec used IFA 2026 to pull back the curtain on the EVO-X5 Pro, a desktop it calls the world’s first system capable of running a 300-billion-parameter large language model entirely offline. The company unveiled the machine at a global launch event in Berlin, billing it as its flagship desktop AI supercomputer and promising enterprise-grade AI performance with data privacy that never leaves the desk. The EVO-X5 Pro goes on sale September 28, 2026.

At the heart of the system sits AMD’s latest Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor. GMKtec says it packs 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and 32 threads, with boost speeds up to 5.2 GHz, alongside an XDNA 2 NPU delivering up to 55 TOPS of AI performance.

The memory is where this thing gets interesting. The EVO-X5 Pro supports up to 192GB of LPDDR5X-8533 unified memory, providing 273 GB/s of bandwidth, with up to 160GB dynamically allocated as graphics memory. That capacity is what lets the machine run 300-billion-parameter models entirely on-device, GMKtec says — no cloud infrastructure required, with lower latency, stronger data privacy and significantly reduced operating costs as the payoff.

GMKtec is aiming the system at AI developers, enterprise AI deployments, research institutions and professional content creators, bringing workstation-class AI capabilities into a compact desktop form factor.

AMD on stage, and two awards

AMD showed up in force. Michael Nordquist, Vice President of Client Business at AMD, joined the launch event to celebrate the product debut and reaffirm the two companies’ shared vision for the future of edge AI. GMKtec described the moment as part of a growing strategic relationship between the two firms.

Nordquist emphasized the long-standing collaboration between AMD and GMKtec, saying, “AMD and GMKtec have worked closely together to deliver premium AI computing experiences. By combining the flagship Ryzen AI Max platform with up to 192GB of unified memory, the EVO-X5 Pro creates an outstanding platform for running local large language models and next-generation AI agents on the desktop.” The EVO-X5 Pro also picked up two major industry honors during the exhibition, recognizing both its technological breakthrough and its product innovation.

GMKtec said the awards position the product among the most talked-about AI computing products showcased at this year’s IFA.

Enterprise plumbing, and what comes next

The machine is built for fleet deployment, not just the bench. It runs on the AMD DASH management framework, integrating an RJ45 DASH network adapter together with a dedicated dTPM 2.0 security chip. That combination gives hardware-level security and operating-system-independent out-of-band remote management, so enterprise IT administrators can remotely deploy, monitor and maintain large fleets of systems across different operating systems.

Anthony Chan, Deputy Director-Overseas Brand Marketing at GMKtec, framed the launch as a category shift. “Personal computing is entering a new era,” he said.

“The EVO-X5 Pro represents our vision of the Agentic PC — bringing supercomputer-class performance, local 300B AI models, and enterprise-grade security together in a compact desktop system. Together with AMD and our global partners, we’re making powerful local AI more accessible than ever.” GMKtec said the launch marks a new phase in which both companies are working together not only to optimize hardware, but also to help define the future of edge AI computing, building on years of collaboration across Mini PCs and AI PCs.

The trend underneath is hard to miss. Running a 300-billion-parameter model on a desk, with no cloud round-trip, moves the frontier of local AI from hobbyist rigs toward something an IT department can actually manage.

Watch the September 28 launch — and watch whether the Agentic PC label sticks.
