Samsung Budget Galaxy Phone Price Hikes in the US: A17-A57

NEW YORK, October 8 — Samsung has raised prices on four of its budget Galaxy A-series smartphones in the United States, according to reports from SamMobile and Engadget cited by Gadget Hacks on October 5, with an update on October 8. The increases affect the Galaxy A17 5G, A27 5G, A37 5G, and A57 5G models, all of which were already available to consumers prior to the adjustments.

The Galaxy A17 5G saw the steepest rise, jumping from a launch price of $200 to $270 — a $70 increase that represents approximately 35%. This adjustment occurred in two separate steps, including one in August 2026.

The Galaxy A27 5G increased from $350 to $380, a $30 bump. The Galaxy A37 5G rose from $450 to $490, a $40 increase. The Galaxy A57 5G moved from $550 to $600, a $50 increase, though The Verge noted slightly different figures of $549 to $599, describing the variance as a minor rounding difference.

These changes follow last week’s price hikes on Samsung’s premium Galaxy S26 lineup, which reportedly increased by about $100. Despite the increases, the A17 5G remains Samsung’s most affordable smartphone offering in the US market, though its current price of $270 is notably above the roughly $200 entry point the company had sustained for years.

The last model to approach that threshold was the Galaxy A16 5G, launched at $199.99 in January 2025. The A37 5G, which debuted at $450 — already $50 above the Galaxy A36’s $399 starting price — now sits at $490, placing it $91 above the A36’s original launch price. Similarly, the A57 5G launched $50 above the Galaxy A56’s approximately $500 starting price, and the recent adjustment adds another $50, pushing it about $100 above the A56’s initial cost.

Samsung’s pricing shifts are not occurring in isolation. Google also raised the price of its Pixel 10a from $499 to $599, indicating a broader trend among major Android manufacturers. The reported prices reflect Samsung’s official listings on samsung.com, though the source notes that carrier or third-party retail prices may vary, advising consumers to verify costs across channels before purchasing.
